State representative Lyle Rowland presented a Missouri House of Representatives Resolution to the Kirbyville R-VI Board of Education during the December meeting. The resolution, dated November 22, 2011, unanimously applauded the “well-deserved selection of Kirbyville Elementary School as a National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education and to convey to all involved, the members of the Kirbyville R-VI Board of Education, Superintendent Carless Osbourn and Kirbyville Elementary Principal Addie Gaines, this legislative body’s most heartfelt best wishes for continued personal and professional success for many more years to come…” 

The resolution also stated that Kirbyville Elementary had enhanced its already impressive record of achievement when it received this award along with only three other schools in the state and recognized the exemplary performance and achievement that resulted in also being recognized as a Missouri Gold Star School.

Representative Rowland brought his personal congratulations for reaching this “mountaintop” and encouraged the district’s continued success. He presented the award to Carless Osbourn, superintendent and Gene France, school board president.

Kirbyville R-VI District accepts Accreditation with Distinction in Performance Award...

Mr. Carless Osbourn, superintendent accepted the Accreditation with Distinction in Performance Award on Tuesday, April 5 at the annual banquet on the campus of Drury University.





K-8 School Districts must meet at least six out of seven performance standards, including all four
MAP standards (9.1*1-9.1*4). The Bonus MAP Achievement Standard will be considered in place of
a MAP or non-MAP performance standard that is “not met”. Subject Area and Voluntary EOC
Bonus Points will not be considered for Distinction in Performance.

State Representative, Maynard Wallace, was a guest in the Kirbyville School District last Thursday. He addressed the entire district with congratulations for earning the Distinction in Performance Award for the seventh time in nine years. He encouraged the district’s students to keep up the good work as they entered this year’s state testing season. To qualify for the award this year, K-8 districts had to meet 6 of the 7 performance standards that apply to these districts, including all of those based on the results of MAP tests. Representative Wallace presented a proclamation from the House of Representatives to Carless Osbourn, superintendent.

Kirbyville receives Distinction in Performance award

Kirbyville Superintendent, Carless Osbourn, accepts an award from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on behalf of the district for Distinction in Performance at the annual banquet in Springfield on Tuesday, February 23. 43 districts in southwest Missouri earned the award. The award is based on meeting state criteria for MAP test scores, attendance and other factors.

Kirbyville School District receives Distinction in Performance Award from DESE

Kirbyville R-VI School District was one of over 300 Missouri school districts that qualified for the state’s “Distinction in Performance” award on the basis of their academic achievements and progress during the last school year. In all, 319 school districts earned the coveted award, which is presented annually by the state education department. Of this year’s recipients, 266 are K-12 districts; 53 are K-8 districts. There are 523 public school districts in the state.

To qualify for the award this year, K-8 districts had to meet 6 of the 7 performance standards that apply to these districts, including all of those based on the results of MAP tests. Under the state’s accreditation program, each school district is evaluated at least once every five years. Since it is based on the same standards as the accreditation program, the Distinction in Performance award provides an annual confirmation of a district’s status and state-level recognition of its overall performance. Representatives of the district will attend an annual banquet on February 23 in Springfield to receive the award along with other districts in southwest Missouri. The Kirbyville School District has received this designation for seven of the past nine years.

Missouri Department of Education recognizes Kirbyville

Mr. Parrett accepted the Distinction in Performance Award from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on behalf of the Kirbyville School District at a special banquet on Wednesday, April 15 in Springfield.
