Mr. Carless Osbourn, superintendent accepted the Accreditation with Distinction in Performance Award on Tuesday, April 5 at the annual banquet on the campus of Drury University.





K-8 School Districts must meet at least six out of seven performance standards, including all four
MAP standards (9.1*1-9.1*4). The Bonus MAP Achievement Standard will be considered in place of
a MAP or non-MAP performance standard that is “not met”. Subject Area and Voluntary EOC
Bonus Points will not be considered for Distinction in Performance.

State Representative, Maynard Wallace, was a guest in the Kirbyville School District last Thursday. He addressed the entire district with congratulations for earning the Distinction in Performance Award for the seventh time in nine years. He encouraged the district’s students to keep up the good work as they entered this year’s state testing season. To qualify for the award this year, K-8 districts had to meet 6 of the 7 performance standards that apply to these districts, including all of those based on the results of MAP tests. Representative Wallace presented a proclamation from the House of Representatives to Carless Osbourn, superintendent.

Kirbyville receives Distinction in Performance award

Kirbyville Superintendent, Carless Osbourn, accepts an award from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on behalf of the district for Distinction in Performance at the annual banquet in Springfield on Tuesday, February 23. 43 districts in southwest Missouri earned the award. The award is based on meeting state criteria for MAP test scores, attendance and other factors.

Kirbyville School District receives Distinction in Performance Award from DESE

Kirbyville R-VI School District was one of over 300 Missouri school districts that qualified for the state’s “Distinction in Performance” award on the basis of their academic achievements and progress during the last school year. In all, 319 school districts earned the coveted award, which is presented annually by the state education department. Of this year’s recipients, 266 are K-12 districts; 53 are K-8 districts. There are 523 public school districts in the state.

To qualify for the award this year, K-8 districts had to meet 6 of the 7 performance standards that apply to these districts, including all of those based on the results of MAP tests. Under the state’s accreditation program, each school district is evaluated at least once every five years. Since it is based on the same standards as the accreditation program, the Distinction in Performance award provides an annual confirmation of a district’s status and state-level recognition of its overall performance. Representatives of the district will attend an annual banquet on February 23 in Springfield to receive the award along with other districts in southwest Missouri. The Kirbyville School District has received this designation for seven of the past nine years.

Missouri Department of Education recognizes Kirbyville

Mr. Parrett accepted the Distinction in Performance Award from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on behalf of the Kirbyville School District at a special banquet on Wednesday, April 15 in Springfield. Missouri State Representative, Maynard Wallace was on hand on Friday morning at Kirbyville Middle School for a districtwide assembly to present a House Resolution honoring the Kirbyville School District for qualifying for the state's Distinction in Performance award for the 2007-08 school year. Representative Wallace addressed the entire student body and faculty complimenting them for their hard work and dedication towards educational excellence. He explained that their high MAP scores and high attendance rate were the reason the school had earned the award. He also attributed the school's success to the cooperative efforts of not only the students, but the entire faculty, staff, families and community. He said that he is proud that Kirbyville is one of the schools in his legislative district and that Kirbyville has a great reputation statewide.
