Construction continues on our new preschool/PAT building.

Kindergarten Field Trip

The kindergarten students had a fantastic time last Thursday on their field trip. The first stop on the trip was Stockstill Park for some playtime and a picnic lunch. The next destination was the Butterfly Palace where students learned about the butterfly life cycle through a 3-D video, a presentation about butterflies and the opportunity for exploration in a tropical setting full of "flying flowers." The students also found their way through a mirrored maze and observed other insects, reptiles and amphibians. The students were respectful and well-behaved. We can all be proud of the way they represented our school in the community.

Retirement Reception

The Kirbyville community is cordially invited to a retirement reception to honor and recognize Ann States, Jerry Parrett and Becky Parrett from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3 at the Kirbyville Middle School cafeteria. This is a come and go event.

Mrs. States has been with the district for 27 years as a secretary and bookkeeper. Mr. Parrett has served the district for 10 years as superintendent. Mrs. Parrett has also worked for the district for 10 years, first as a kindergarten teacher and currently as a parent educator.

Please join us in showing your appreciation for their many years of service and dedication to the Kirbyville School District.

Kirbyville Teacher Honored...

Lara Ernsting, third grade teacher, was recently awarded Southwest Missouri Elementary Educator of the Year by the Southwest Region of the Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA). She was nominated by the Kirbyville Community Teachers Association (CTA). There was a lengthy application process in which each candidate shared their teaching philosophy, educational and leadership accomplishments and community involvement. Several people wrote letters of recommendation. Among the many reasons Mrs. Ernsting was selected was (to quote one of her students), “She makes learning fun, even math.” In recognition of her accomplishment the SW MSTA presented her with a plaque and $500. The CTA received $250 as well.

KES recently celebrated the fine arts including: music, visual arts, writing and more at An Evening with the Arts!

Missouri Department of Education recognizes Kirbyville

Mr. Parrett accepted the Distinction in Performance Award from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on behalf of the Kirbyville School District at a special banquet on Wednesday, April 15 in Springfield. Kirbyville was one of five schools in the immediate Branson area that was awarded. Read more about it in the Branson Daily News:

MAP Assembly

KES and KMS combined to produce a rockin' MAP assembly which was totally a blast from the past! The 80's ruled as students learned testing tips and were pumped up with positive motivation to produce great results on the MAP. MAP testing began on April 7 and will conclude on April 23. Each grade 3-8 has a unique schedule within those dates.
