Teacher Appreciation Week May 4-8, 2009

To: Kirbyville Parents and/or Guardians
From: Dawn Motley, Kirbyville PTO

It’s that time of year again. TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK is just around the corner. May 4th – 8th, 2009. I thought it would be nice to get a jump on things by sending this email/handout early enough to get suggestions, ideas and volunteers.

Please email me at
KirbyvilleMoPTO@yahoo.com with any suggestions and/or ideas you may have for our Kirbyville Elementary and Middle School’s Teacher Appreciation Week. Also, let me know if you are interested in volunteering for any of the days during this special week. I have listed some items below that may spur some ideas. Feel free to expand on them or come up with some of your own. Let’s show the teachers how much we appreciate what they do for our kids.

· Someone or some organization(s) could volunteer his/her/their time and/or services for one or two days during Teacher Appreciation Week - Chiropractor, Manicure/Pedicure Specialist, Chef, Massage Therapist, etc. Anything that would be appreciated by the staff.

· Volunteer to bring a dish for breakfast and/or lunch for the teachers/staff. Also, it might be interesting to see how many people would be willing to purchase something to feed our teachers and staff for each day of the week. That would be morning or lunch meal at both schools. Depending on the response, maybe a combination of covered dishes and catered meals could be accomplished. If covered dish meals are used we need to remember to list the ingredients to address any food allergies that others might have.

· Volunteer your time at the school to help not only your child’s teacher, but the entire staff. This could be just a few hours or a whole day – the whole week even! Your help not only shows the staff you care, but also lets your child know that you are there for him/her as well.

. Think about it. If you have other ideas just drop me an email or call Rhonda at the Elementary School (334-2757) and she’ll pass on the message. The PTO will, of course, be helping, but your help really makes this special for the teachers and your kids.

Thank you,
